It didn't get 'done' but progress was made.

During the latter part of 2015, work and family commitments meant that stitching had to take a back seat so I didn't achieve my 'Get it Done SAL 2015' goal but as the two pictures below show, some progress was made.

Get it Done Update!

Well, my project from the beginning of the year just hasn't worked for me, because I've been focusing my attention for the last two months or so on my HAED Nativity piece.  I really, really, really want to get the top row of pages done by the end of the year and I'm SO close!

So... pretending that THIS was the piece I had chosen in January, here is my beginning photo as of January 1st...

and here is where I am now!!  Just one more half page to go to meet my goal!!!

Tuesday, December 1, 2015

Well, looks like I'm not the only one who has lapsed with this SAL. However, I think I have a good excuse. I've been in transit and trying to get resettled. Plus, I did try to post last month but couldn't get my pictures downloaded from my camera for some reason. Decided to try again this month and the camera download worked this time. Go figure. Anyway, here are the projects I've worked on since returning to the US in late July.

This is from the "Hearts of America" series from Victoria Sampler (of course, who else! ha ha). Being born and raised in Michigan, I had to do this one. Don't know how I'm going to finish it yet, but I'm sure I'll think of something.

This is "Count Your Blessings" from Victoria Sampler - all done except for some minor beading since I don't feel like doing french knots. Need to wait until I get reunited with my stash so I can find the right size and color of beads. But the stitching is all done. Looking forward to putting this together. The second picture below is the smalls that go with the etui - a scissors case, pinkeep, and scissors fob.

So that's my progress over the past couple of months. Hope I don't run out of projects before I get reunited with my stash.

Progress? Um....not so much...

Hi Everybody!!

I  know I've been bad at keeping up to date here.  I did finish one of the charts I hoped to this year...and I even got it framed for DH for our Anniversary last month!  He wanted to take it to work, but I was mean and said I wanted to look at it too!  LOL  Here's a peek...

I have been working on Aurora Cabin.  I must say this is more ambitious than I thought.  Most of it is half stitches, but when I get to the full cross stitches, it bogs me down.  Can you spell c-o-n-f-e-t-t-i stitches?  UGH!!  I changed my needle more than I can count.  Here is what it looked like before...

And...here is what I've done so far, with a few close up pics so you can see what I've been dealing with...

Silly me, I keep signing up for exchanges, then promised people I would stitch things for them, and then found a book to crochet flowers.  I think I have adult onset ADD...can anyone suggest a good counselor??  LOL!  Off to try and be productive.  Wish me luck!

It's been awhile

In my own defense I haven't updated my blog in forever also. Seems I'd rather be stitching. LOL.
I had Train of Dreams off the q snaps to move it today (yes I am still totally addicted to this one) so decided to take a total progress pic. When I finish the page I am working on I will officially be halfway on this project. I am hoping to finish it by the end of December. We shall see. Lots of confetti in this one. Hope every one is happily stitching away.

September Update

Well, August was quite a hectic month, what with returning to the States and trying to get semi-settled somewhere. But I did manage to get some stitching in once in a while. I'm working on "Count Your Blessings" by Victoria Sampler. I already had the first two panels completed and the third one started. Last month I got the third panel completed and a small start on the fourth and final panel. Here are photos of the two panels I worked on. I'll be continuing with this project this month.

Aurora Cabin...

Hi Getitdoners!

I haven't made much progress on Aurora Cabin.  Seems I signed up for an exchange, we had two new members of the family make an appearance and I made them both afghans, my anniversary popped up and we took a little trip.  You can see more on my blog if you care to take a peek.  But....I did make some....so, here it is!

Gee, since we are more than halfway through the year, and I'm less than halfway through this pattern, I'm beginning to wonder if I'll make it.  How are the rest of you guys doing?  I don't know about you, but right about now I'm feeling a little discouraged.  *sigh*

Giveaway!!

Hi all!

I'm so sorry it has taken me so long to get this going.  It's been a bit busy at DJ's Digs (I know I sound like a broken record) and then my internet has been down.  I haven't quite figured out how to write posts from my ipad.  Anway, excuses aside, I'm here now...so...I didn't see any "after" posts.  BUT...I have seen a lot of progress since the beginning.  So...let's do it this way.  I'll give you another week to post progress pictures.  Then I will write another post, and you can vote in the comments the one you think has had the most progress.  (Hopefully our new router will be here and my internet problems will have been solved!)

So...on the 22nd we will vote...see ya then!

July Status

Well, as most everyone knows, I finished putting together the Gingerbread House from Victoria Sampler. It's not perfect, but still so cute. I'm looking forward to displaying it in my next stitching "studio" - wherever it may be.

So, now it is on to the next project. For the next few months, I'll be working on Victoria Sampler's "Count Your Blessings". At least until we get settled in our new place and I get the "studio" set up. Here is where I ended the last time I worked on this project. Hopefully, I'll have some time to work on this project in-between shopping for a new vehicle and looking for a new home. I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Julie's July achievements

Well, I was trying and trying to finish this. As you can see its "nearly done"

I will be sorry to see the last of this, but I have three other LongDogs to do, Moulin Rouge, Renaissance, and Opus II. So plenty to go on with.

It's been a lovely stitch, rather nice to do a single colour for a change!!

Meanwhile I have done some other over one stitching. Its using Gentle arts threads (quaker colours)
and is rather nice so far.

In 2009 I got a design from http://novalee02.over-blog.com/ that I put on each end of a table runner. I finished it as of Monday. Here it is.

All Will be Well.......it will GET DONE!

Good....thanks for posting, DJ, I need some encouragement.......lovely though the giveaway is, I'm not going to enter but........as usual......needing the said encouragement......I'm bending the rules!  A few days before the end of June I wrote out my goals for the coming month in the sweet notebook that Miss Frances gifted me and....here they are.......

July Goals - one so far achieved!

The Drawn Thread
Calendar of Flowers?
(oh dear, I've forgotten!)
belonging to Frances

As to the rest, I've chosen the Gifted Gorgeousness choice AND will remember (fingers crossed) to post on the 15th........the chart was a gift from Miss Joyce (also of this blog, lol) in an FS Secret Santa exchange.

Cottage Garden Samplings
June's Honeysuckle
The cushion will be hemmed, I'll rescue the sampler from the basket of doom and decide on a Smalls SAL and pin myself down regarding the next Round Robin choice, and as they say in my country......Bob will be my mother's brother!

I'll be back........with Everything Accomplished - of course I will............

Wow it's been awhile

Thanks for the reminder DJ. It has been a long time since I posted. I have become addicted to one of my HAED's. Train of Dreams has had me in its clutches since the end of May. Usually I switch projects every couple of weeks or so. Here is my starting photo in May and where I am right now.

I am hoping to have a page finish by the end of this week.

Progress? Um...not so much...

Hi everybody!

I am sorry I haven't been around much, I'm hoping to do better now that things have slowed down a bit.  I haven't had much progress on Aurora Cabin...though I have done a wee bit more than the last time I posted.  All the confetti stitching is taking a toll...but hopefully I will get back into it soon.  Here's my progress so far.

I'm hoping with this new incentive we'll all get a renewed interest in "getting it done"!

July Giveaway

I'm sorry I've been neglectful lately, but I think I've gone back now and commented on the posts I've missed.  I haven't given up on you guys, just had a busy few months.  Dorrie sure has gone to town on her pieces, let's give her a round of applause shall we?

Since we are having a Christmas in July exchange on Friendly  Stitcher's Yahoo Group, I thought this pattern would be a lovely giveaway for our group here.  I love how each one of these could be made into an ornament on it's own (and ALMOST chose one of these as my exchange piece but found something different).  So....I'm going to give this to the person who makes the most progress on their chosen project and at the end of the month, whoever has made the most progress (and there will be a vote by all the members of our group here) will get the pattern.  How does that sound?

Here is what you'll be trying for...

And here are the "rules".  Post a picture some time this week of the piece you've chosen as your progress piece.  During the last week of the month take another picture.  The first of August, post a comment on the piece you are voting for with only one word, VOTE.  (You can also post a different comment on the piece itself, but I will only be counting the word vote as a vote...gee I hope that makes sense...LOL!!)  Any questions, please ask.  And to all who choose to participate...GOOD LUCK!!

July Update

Where is everybody? Why is no one posting pictures of all their great finishes??  I feel so alone here all by myself.  LOL  Anyway, I worked on three projects in June. First I finished the last three ornaments from Victoria Sampler's "12 Days".  That would be ornaments #10, 11, and 12 (the bottom three in this picture. I'm really excited about getting these completed and off my FUPpy list. I think they turned out really cute and am looking forward to seeing them hanging on our holiday tree.

Next, I worked on Victoria Sampler's "Gingerbread House" and started getting the various pieces put together. I got fabric glued to mat board for all the inside walls……

and got the underside of one half of the roof glued, including making the scissor pocket, bought some wool felt for the needle/pin keep and sewed that onto the underside of the other half of the roof. Next I need to glue the fabric to the mat board.

Finally, while waiting for the glue to dry (since my brick will only cover one or two pieces at a time), I managed to put a few more stitches in the Viking ship border.

So I think June turned out to be a pretty successful month. For July I'm going to continue working on the Gingerbread House and hopefully get it finished. How is everyone else doing?

This is my oldest WIP in my rotation. It is
Christmas Animals designer: Heaven and Earth
this is a freebie on their website.
Next is a design called Noel which was a SAL in 2009 by
Novalee02. I am stitching it on a table runner and have now finished one end.

June Update

Well, I'm almost embarrassed to show you how much I didn't get done last month on the Viking ship. I was trying to work on it so diligently when time allowed, but with all the color changes and confetti, it just moves so slow - hard to see a lot of progress in one month. But here is the sad evidence. This is what it looked like at the beginning of the month:

And this is the status at the end of the month:

I was really hoping to get that left corner completed - got about half of it done. I may work on it occasionally this month, but I've deemed June to be a FUP month. So I'll be trying to finish putting together some completed projects and get them off my list.

Hope everyone else is being successful "getting it done"!

Garden of Joy Fiinished

This was 2009 SAL piece with the Friendly Stitchers Group. After starting it, the designer left the group and took the design with her. Then my computer went down and I lost the designs I had saved. Therefore, I put some of my own designs on it and have now finished it. Here it is with the list of what is included in My Garden of Joy.

I actually did something!

I know it's a shock, but I actually got some decent stitching in last weekend and I think I finished 3 partial stars and did 2 or 3 complete new stars  AND i even finished part of the border for the next stripe (Though I didn't take a picture of the stripe progress as, let's face it, a line of red is just not all that compelling.).  In all his glory, here is the star field on ByGone Stitching's One Nation flag:

Happy stitching to all and to all a good day!

O Holy Night Update

I've made just a little progress on this over the past few weeks.  I must have Spring Fever, cuz I want to stitch on anything but this one! : )  -- Tricia

may day update

It's so hard to believe that today is May 1st! Where is this year going so quickly? (I wish my stitching would catch up!)

This is where I was at the end of March.

This is one of the pieces I brought along on vacation, and I actually did get some stitching done on it. Here is the way it looks today. Can you see my error???

The design is "Stitchers' Resolution" from Heartstring Samplery. I love the colors in this one and am enjoying stitching it. But I realized that I made an error, and I am wondering if it worth fixing, or if I should just carry on.
The row of words in the top row is off by one stitch...it should be one stitch down.
What do you think? Would you change it if it was your piece?

Looking forward to seeing everyone's progress for the month!

May Update

How can the months fly by so quickly? I can't believe April went by so fast, and now it is time to show what little bit of stitching I was able to accomplish this past month. I worked on my bird afghan as often as I could, but still didn't get as much done as I was hoping. It is starting to look a little more like a bird than when I started. Here is the before picture:

And here is what it looked like at the end of the month:

When you compare the two, I guess I made a bit more progress than I thought. But with a new month, comes the next project. I don't know if you've heard me complain about the dreaded Viking ship, but that is the project I'll be struggling with this month. The project is called "Rune Sampler" from Dracolair Creations. I'm making this for my DH. Here is a current picture of this project.

There is a lot of detail in the border, with a lot of color changes, blended needles, and the floss colors are very similar so it is difficult to keep track of which color is which. That is why the floss is parked indicating when that color next shows up. Which means I have to constantly look at the back to make sure I don't capture one of the parked threads. Really makes for slow progress. But I'll do my best, in between my sight-seeing, to get some more accomplished this month.
